Westwood Capital Rap Show – 29 April 1988 [REMASTERED]

From exactly 33 years ago, regrettably there’s not much to write home about on this one, and please excuse the hiss but I just couldnt shake it. It’s just an average 45 minutes worth of Timmy with some decent tunes but sadly only a couple of classics. However, there are plenty of Westwoodisms so it’s worth skipping through just for those. There are shedloads of ‘No right turns/ Gangster Boogies and A1 discotheques’ etc [too many to mention tbh] but *‘Remember everyone’s accepted, except the fat, slack and wack’ was a highlight.

A news report about a Ferry strike at the end sounds like it was recorded on the set of Full Metal Jacket, Magic FMs’ velvety voiced Lynn Parsons describes herself as ‘The Crumbiest Flakiest little person in the world’ and mentions a Westwood ‘Chauffeuring Service’ in the handover, and there is a Lilt ad with a voice-over by the legendary Desmonds actor Norman Beaton.

NB: Long Live The Kane was released on 28 June 1988, so it’s interesting to hear Tim play the title cut off a cassette during this April set, and describe such an iconic LP as a ‘forthcoming album’.
