This is some classic 9-Cinco shit, purchased from Bobbitos’ Footwork store way back in October 95 [Check those hand-stamped Fat Beats J-Card inserts]. It’s extra-duty goofballs as it was the 5th Anniversary of the show AND as far as we know, Stretch Armstrongs’ born-day. Stretch, Bobbito, Sear and Reef are in the studio alongside MF Grimm & Kool G Rap. There’s a fair bit of muckin’ around, which leads into some great music, some random version excursions and some Scooby Doo.
When Stretch mentioned it way back this is what he had to say about the evening:
“There was no party, no cake or candles, no all-star lineup of thankful artists [an oxymoron] or anything extra super-celebratory to usher in the fifth birthday of the radio show that Bobbito and I gave birth to [pause!] in the winter of 1990.
True to the understated nature of KCR, it was a family affair: Stretch, Kool Bob Love, Detective Reef, Lord Sear and friends / guests MF Grimm and Kool G Rap. We had a great time that night. It felt good to have five years under our belts and to be on the radio with one of the greatest of all time and one of our idols, Bob and I could agree on some things!”…
